Identify the verification step
Record the page, delivery method and exact error. New-account registration and two-step sign-in to an existing account need different troubleshooting paths.
A registration message is delayed
Google notes that carrier issues can delay messages. Wait a few minutes, or consider voice verification if the current page offers it.
The number is rejected
Google limits how often a number can be used for account creation or verification and recommends another number when that limit applies. Buying a number does not remove those limits.
Two-step verification for an existing account
Check for a Google prompt rather than an SMS. Confirm that your phone and plan support texts. If you requested multiple codes, use the newest one.
If the original phone is unavailable, check previously configured backup codes, security keys or other recovery options. Otherwise use Google's account recovery process.
Before choosing a number service
Review the destination platform's rules and the number's usage period. RunSMS availability is not a guarantee that Google will accept a number or deliver a message. Keep recovery methods you can control long term.
Common questions
Can I use an older code after requesting another?
Google's two-step verification help states that only the newest code works after multiple requests.
Does buying a number guarantee Google verification?
No. Google decides whether to accept a number. A successful RunSMS purchase does not guarantee external verification.
